"Even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning" (Jol 2:12).
Some apologies are carefully packaged but never truly opened from the heart. A person may bow his head, say the right words, give generously, or perform an impressive act of remorse, yet remain unchanged inside. Like sweeping dust under a rug before visitors arrive, outward actions can make a problem less visible without actually removing it. Joel spoke to a people facing disaster and called them to something deeper: “Return to Me with all your heart” (Joel 2:12). God was not looking for a performance. He was calling for a return.
