There are some days when we carry out maintenance on things to keep them from breaking down. While that is normally reasonable, I would like to make an argument for the case that maintenance is not always good. In organizations, for instance, it will not do to just maintain. The goal of every organization is to keep growing. Even relationships must evolve and develop, more so when we talk about academic institutions being amid constant change in terms of approaches, methodologies, culture and demands. I thank God that even if Eastbridge is getting older, it has never ceased to explore new horizons to maximize what it can offer to its students. And in doing so, it does not only continue to produce academic and non-academic winners, but it has also improved its ranking in competitions. Eastbridge has also increased its passing rate in prestigious institutions like the Philippine Science High School, Quezon City Science High School, Marikina Science High School, Miriam College, De La Salle High School and the Ateneo de Manila University.

It is with great pride that I would like to extend my congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2016-2017, both the Grade School and the Preschool. I do this because you have really done great things to put the name of Eastbridge in the academic map, not only in the town of Montalban and the province of Rizal but also in the CALABARZON Region. To borrow from the lines of our School Hymn, you once again “Stand tall … and carry the banner of the East”.

We all could not have done this without the dedicated and untiring effort of many stakeholders in your education – the teaching and non-teaching staff, the parents, the community and even your fellow learners who keep on cheering, goading, inspiring and competing.

In this year’s program preparation, my “major” involvement was to prepare the pictures of the graduating students, both for the elementary and the preschool. But I have another assignment: to compile pictures that chronicled the schools journey through the ten years that it has been in existence. To say that I enjoyed digging through years and years of snapshots is an understatement. The truth is, it was like a time-machine journey to the past and understandably full of nostalgia. But there’s something else.  I was brought to the realization that people and children in our lives come and some go, while others choose to stay and together we make beautiful memories through the years.

A round of congratulations to our graduating students for S.Y. 2013-2014! But the congratulations will not be complete without giving special mention of the parents of these children who have shown unrivaled support for their kids’ education and co-curricular activities. In some ways, this batch epitomizes the ideal school-home partnership in education. The school can never ask for more from you all.Having said that, let me express my delight in seeing many of you going on to big schools that I believe will further hone your skills for greater things that you will have to face in the future academically.

Greetings to all the graduates and students of Eastbridge School for school year 2014-2015. I’m sure all of you have a reason to celebrate on this particular day, some more than others but not leaving anybody behind. Have we failed in this regard, we would also have failed in living up to the claim of being a Multiple Intelligence school.

We are almost a decade old and much has transpired since our humble beginning in 2006. Year after year and batch after batch, we continue to be amazed by the kind of possibilities our students are showing us.
